Odds slashed on Wayne Rooney to make England’s World Cup squad

Wayne Rooney could be set for a sensational England comeback, according to our odds.
The Everton ace announced his retirement from international football back in August.
But a blistering start to the season has seen bookies slash odds on him being called up for next year’s World Cup.
Having previously been a 33/1 shot for an unlikely place on Gareth Southgate’s plane to Russia, Rooney’s odds have today been cut to just 10/1 with six months to go until the tournament gets underway.
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Harry Kane is the only Englishman to score more than Wazza so far this season and our traders are taking no chances by slashing odds of a sensational return to international football for the record-breaking striker.”
Rooney has scored nine Premier League goals this season, the same number as Romelu Lukaku, Alvaro Morata and Raheem Sterling.
The former England skipper will look to reach double figures on Monday when his Everton side host struggling Swansea City at Goodison Park.
A home win is odds-on at 7/10, while the in-form Rooney is 9/2 joint-favourite to net the opening goal of the game for the second match in succession.
