Odds slashed on this December being the coldest ever

Published:

After Monday brought the coldest night of the year, our traders have slashed the odds on this December being the coldest on record.

Parts of Britain were even colder than Moscow (-2C). The temperature fell to -13C in Shawbury, Shropshire on Monday night.

We’ve paid out to any punters backing this week to bring the coldest night of the year. Now it’s just 4/7 that the temperature drops lower than -13C between now and Sunday.

It’s also 4/6 (from evens) that this is the coldest December since records began.

The current record holder is December 2011, which averaged a mean temperature of -1C.

You may be able to start dreaming of a White Christmas too. It’s 4/9 for snowfall on December 25.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Punters have already been paid plenty thanks to Jack Frost this month, and the odds are suggesting more records will be broken between now and the New Year.”
