Manchester City are now odds-on to sign West Bromwich Albion centre-half Jonny Evans.

The Citizens have been linked with a move for the defender in each of the last three transfer windows and are now just 2/5 to bring the Northern Irishman to the Etihad Stadium.

That puts them some way ahead of the new joint-second favourites for his signature, with Everton and Manchester United both priced at 5/1.

A move back to Old Trafford could appeal to the 29-year-old, while Sam Allardyce has money to spend at Goodison Park.

Evans will not come cheap for any potential suitors.

But with the Baggies wanting to cash in on the Ulsterman to fund a move for a new striker, it appears likely that a transfer will take place in January.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “An Evans exit has been on the cards for some time now and with the winter transfer window just days away from opening it’s City who look like they need him most – and that’s exactly what the latest odds are suggesting.”
