Here’s what Burnley need to do in the January window

Clubs across the land will be battling to retain their top talents, and bring in vital new additions.
The Ladbrokes News Team are casting their eye over all 20 Premier League clubs.
This time it’s Burnley under the microscope…
What they need
Sean Dyche’s Clarets have picked up plenty of plaudits this term, and are currently riding high in the table. However, if they want to keep the dream of a European spot alive, they need more strength-in-depth.
Another striker should be a priority, with the Clarets among the division’s lowest scorers.
With Tom Heaton out long term, the only back-up for Nick Pope is the shaky Anders Lindegaard. Another keeper could prove a smart addition.
Who they’re targeting
Reports suggest Dyche could bolster Burnley’s backline with the signing of Queen’s Park Rangers captain and centre-back Nedum Onuoha.
Having developed lower-league talents like Andre Gray and Charlie Austin, the low-scoring Clarets could well look to some of the striking talent below the Prem.
Peterborough United’s Jack Marriott and Chesterfield’s Kristian Dennis are two forwards lighting up the lower reaches of the EFL and tipped for bigger things.
Who they might lose
Defender Ben Mee has been linked with West Bromwich Albion. The Baggies could themselves lose Jonny Evans in January, and would likely hunt a replacement if so.
Jon Walters has failed to make his mark, with injury and squad rotation meaning the veteran is yet to make a single start since joining in the summer.
Aston Villa are believed to be keen, so he could well depart in Jan.
Final thought
A lack of clinical options up front needs resolving, while Dyche could do with fleshing out a modestly-sized squad in general.
First, though, they need to try and ensure key defender Mee stays on board.
