January is nearly here and the mid-season transfer window is almost open.

It has its critics, but the window allows clubs and players to make vital changes.

The Ladbrokes News team are profiling all 20 Premier League clubs.

Here it’s Brighton & Hove Albion’s turn to go under the spotlight…

What they need

From what we’ve seen so far, there isn’t too much wrong with Brighton’s squad. They’ve done well with their budget.

They need to start bagging a few more goals in the second half of the season though, so a dynamic midfielder and a striker should be considered.

Who they’re targeting

Liverpool’s Marko Grujic could certainly be Brighton’s midfield answer.

The Serbian is keen for first-team action, is highly rated and would bring plenty of energy and a 6ft 3in physical presence.

And the Reds could also solve Brighton’s need for a goalscorer.

Danny Ings is fully fit and raring to make up for lost time. But he’s unlikely to get the game-time he needs at Anfield.

A loan move to Brighton could work for both player and club.

Who they might lose

Brighton should be able to hold on to their best in January. Lewis Dunk is making an impression though, as is Pascal Gross.

Both players could be targeted in the summer, but for now, Chris Hughton’s squad looks safe.

Final thought

Brighton have done just fine so far, but the season is only halfway through.

The Seagulls will find it tough going in the second phase of the campaign unless they bring in a couple of energetic additions.
