Edgy Man United win & Everton success lead our Boxing Day Prem picks

Boxing Day means one thing – Premier League football.

There are eight games to enjoy from the top-flight this afternoon as the division gears up for a hectic seven-day spell.

In the pick of the action, Tottenham Hotspur host Southampton and Watford face Leicester City.

We preview those matches (and more) and pick out our best bets from Boxing Day…

Tottenham Hotspur v Southampton

The action begins with an intriguing encounter at Wembley Stadium.

Tottenham returned to winning ways against Burnley over the weekend and should make it two from two against Southampton at 1/3.

Harry Kane has scored in two of his last three appearances against the Saints and is priced at 4/6 to continue that run Anytime. We think the England ace to bag a brace could also pay at 13/5.

And given that Mauricio Pellegrino’s side have only scored five times away from home all season, Tottenham to Win to Nil looks a safe bet at 11/10.

Watford v Leicester City

Both of these sides have enjoyed good starts to the season but have stumbled of late.

We think that Watford’s home form could swing this match in favour of the rejuvenated Foxes.

Marco Silva’s side have only won twice at Vicarage Road all season and are currently on a run of four straight defeats in the league.

Leicester are well-priced at 19/10 to take all three points, while the visitors and Over 2.5 Goals could also pay at 17/5.

Both sides like to share the goals about, which makes the 4/1 for Jamie Vardy to be the First Goalscorer an enticing proposition.

West Bromwich Albion v Everton

Sam Allardyce has really whipped Everton into shape.

Following Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Chelsea, the Toffees are seven matches without defeat. That run also includes five clean sheets.

By contrast, West Brom are on an 18-game winless run and have only beaten Everton once since 2011.

Big Sam’s Blues should record victory at 21/10, while we’re also expecting Wayne Rooney to return from illness and get on the scoresheet at 11/5.

Manchester United v Burnley

Burnley will be looking to keep it tight at Old Trafford this afternoon.

The Clarets have the fourth-best defensive record in the Premier League and will make it tough for Man United.

However, the hosts should have the quality to grind out a hard-fought victory.

Jose Mourinho’s side have won nine home games to nil so far this season and are 27/20 to extend that record.

United and Under 2.5 Goals also appeals at 11/4.

Elsewhere in the Premier League, AFC Bournemouth host West Ham United, Chelsea face Brighton & Hove Albion, while Stoke City travel to Huddersfield Town.
