Tottenham and Atletico Madrid eye up shock move for West Ham star

West Ham odds, Manuel Lanzini odds

West Ham United midfielder Manuel Lanzini could be at the centre of a sensational January transfer tug-of-war between Tottenham Hotspur and Atletico Madrid.

The Argentine midfield has been one of West Ham’s star players over the past couple of years and is now attracting the attention of some of Europe’s top clubs.

While Atletico are believed to be monitoring Lanzini’s situation at the London Stadium, it’s Spurs who appear more likely to land the 24-year-old.

Lilywhites boss Mauricio Pochettino is understood to be a fan of the exciting playmaker who first joined the Hammers on-loan from Al-Jazira in 2015.

Since swapping the Middle East for East London, the Ituzaingo-native has been a sensation.

Though often behind former hero Dimitri Payet in the fans’ appreciation, the diminutive midfielder’s work has certainly not gone unnoticed.

The ex-River Plate man helped the Irons to an impressive seventh-place finish in the Premier League back in 2015 and has a record of 16 goals in 77 appearances over the past two and a half seasons.

With Tottenham’s reliance on the big three of Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen, the Argentine would provide another interesting outlet going forward.

He creates chances too. Pochettino will know that all too well after the midfielder provided two assists in West Ham’s 3-2 victory over Spurs in the Carabao Cup earlier this season.

However, whether the Hammers hierarchy would allow the two-cap international to cross the divide in London and join a fierce rival remains to be seen.

But with Atletico also watching and waiting, Lanzini could have his pick of potential destinations this January.
