Sheffield Utd v Birmingham: Blades star Clarke to make difference

Published:
Bramall Lane - Sheffield United

Sheffield United have been a byword for ‘entertainment’ this season. The Blades’ last three games have produced a combined 18 goals, with two wins and a loss in that period.

They welcome a Birmingham City side struggling for goals. Blues have registered a meagre nine times in their 18 league games this term. Just three of those have come on the road.

As for United, they’ve won four of their last five at Bramall Lane. That means victory for the hosts looks a safe call at 6/10. Meanwhile, it’s 14/5 for the Draw, and there’s 19/4 about City grabbing a first away win since May.

However, with an unsurprisingly modest price on the Blades to simply win, the best value looks to be elsewhere.

Birmingham have scored just once in six games, and face a side who are used to racking up the goals. They’ve scored three or more goals in each of their last trio of outings.

That means we like the Sheffield United -1 handicap at 17/10. Meanwhile, the Blades also look good value to Win to Nil at 8/5.

The South Yorkshire club have tended to really come to life after the interval. Seven of their last 11 goals have come after half-time, while they’ve only conceded three times after the break in nine games.

We like Chris Wilder’s men in the Second-Half Result market at 10/11.

One man who looks sure to find the net is Leon Clarke. The evergreen hitman has managed 12 goals in his last 10 games, bagging two or more on four occasions. That included a hat-trick against Fulham last time out.

He’s decent value to net anytime at 5/4, but it’s the 11/2 on the striker to Score 2 Goals or More which has really caught our eye.
