With almost a third of the season gone, the Premier League table is slowly beginning to take shape.
Manchester City head the pack out front, while Crystal Palace, West Ham United and Swansea City all sit perilously in the relegation zone.
As the Premier League closes down for the international break, we ask three burning questions following the latest round of fixtures…
Are Burnley on for Europe?
It’s another week and another three points for Burnley. The Clarets edged a close fought contest against Southampton to record their second 1-0 victory inside the last seven days.
And that got us wondering – could Sean Dyche’s men really be contenders for Europe?
Well, with almost a third of the season gone, Burnley are sitting in prime position for a Europa League spot.
Their defensive record is the best outside the top three, they’ve only lost twice so far – one of those defeats coming against Manchester City – and they’re considered to be one of the most organised sides in the division.
If they can keep that form going, then a seventh place finish and potential European berth could well be theirs.
Who are Man City’s main title challengers?
In a weekend where Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal all failed to impress, we’re asking, who are City’s main challengers for the Premier League title?
While Chelsea did manage to pick up all three points, we think it’s Spurs that pose the biggest threat to Pep Guardiola’s charges.
The Lilywhites still have players to come back and crucially have a more than favourable run in the lead up to Christmas.
After last week’s victory against Real Madrid, Spurs fear no-one. And that could be crucial if they’re to outlast their rivals in the chase for the Sky Blues.
What’s happened to Watford?
Just under three weeks ago Watford were being talked about as potential candidates for a European spot.
Three defeats and eight goals conceded later and the Hornets have been brought back down to earth with a bump.
Their defensive record is now the worst in the top-half and in the bottom quarter of the league as a whole.
The international break will be used by Marco Silva to reassess his side ahead of what could prove to be two crucial fixtures against West Ham and Newcastle United.
After that, Man United and Spurs visit Vicarage Road.
Failure to pick up any points from the opening two fixtures in that crucial quartet could leave Silva looking over his shoulder as the Premier League heads towards Christmas.
