January transfer betting news

Odion Ighalo has been banging in the goals in the Chinese Super League since leaving Watford at the start of 2017. But the latest reports suggest he could well be back in the Premier League come January, with four sides interested.

Each of West Ham United, Everton, Southampton and Stoke City are believed to be keen on the striker. All four sides sit in the league’s bottom seven, with goals the main issue for most of them. So it’s no surprise to see the Nigerian in high demand.

Especially so considering his form for current club Changchun Yatai. The 28-year-old netted 15 times in 27 games to help the side secure a first top-half finish since 2012.

That form’s been replicated for the national side, with Igahalo’s displays helping the Super Eagles book their place at World Cup 2018.

All of that bodes well were he to join a Prem side in January. But his record with the Hornets was hit-and-miss.

Despite bagging 16 goals in the English top-flight in 2015-16, he managed just one in 18 games last season before heading to China. That suggests it’s a case of finding the right manager to thrive under.

With a slew of clubs interested, this could prove to be one of January’s most entertaining transfer sagas.
