O’Neill odds-on for Ireland chop; 12/1 for shock switch to Everton

Martin O’Neill could soon be out of a job, according to our latest odds.

The Republic of Ireland boss has been cut to just 3/4 to leave his post before Christmas.

His assistant Roy Keane looks to be facing a similar situation and is 2/5 to follow O’Neill out of the Aviva Stadium.

It follows Ireland’s disappointing 5-1 home defeat to Denmark last night which knocked them out of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

O’Neill led the Irish to the European Championships last summer, but it now looks as though his time could well be up.

Our traders don’t think that the 65-year-old will be in charge for much longer and go 5/6 that the ex-Aston Villa chief is gone by the time the Euro 2020 qualifiers come around next Autumn.

However, it’s not all bad news for the Irishman.

With Everton still looking for a new manager following the departure of Ronald Koeman last month, O’Neill has been installed at 12/1 for a surprise switch to Goodison Park.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Ireland’s World Cup exit has left our traders anticipating a swift O’Neill exit, with an outside chance of him swapping Dublin for Merseyside in the coming weeks.”
