Mo Farah is the most popular pick to win this year’s BBC Sports Personality of the Year award.

We can reveal that no other contender has had more bets placed on them winning the gong – and that’s including 1/3 long-time favourite Anthony Joshua.

Farah is currently 16/1 in the betting, putting him behind the likes of Lewis Hamilton, Chris Froome and Jermain Defoe.

With just over a month to go until the winner is announced, Hamilton has been the most notable market mover of late having seen his odds slashed from 14/1 to just 6/1 in the last month.

Froome is now a 10/1 shot, while AFC Bournemouth forward Defoe is a 16/1 chance.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Joshua may have led the SPOTY market from the offset but if the bets we’ve taken are anything to go by, it might not be the foregone conclusion everybody is anticipating with Hamilton and Farah both attracting interest right now.”
