Liverpool v Chelsea: Expect another tight clash between this pair

Published:
Sadio Mane - Liverpool

Liverpool host Chelsea in a crucial Premier League clash on Saturday. Just three points separate the Blues in third from Jurgen Klopp’s men in fifth. And there’s likely to be little – if anything – between the pair at Anfield this weekend.

Five of the last eight meetings have finished level (including a League Cup clash which went to extra-time). Meanwhile, the Reds currently have the division’s joint-highest number of draws, with four.

That means we like the look of the Draw at 5/2. Liverpool are favourites with our odds-crunchers at 21/20, with Antonio Conte’s men out at 23/10.

While the hosts are renowned for their entertaining football, meetings between these sides have – almost without exception – been tight and tense affairs.

None of the last 11 meetings have produced over three goals. That means Under 3.5 Goals looks a safe bet at 1/2, while Under 2.5 looks generously-priced at 6/5.

Klopp’s men tend to be strong starters. Seven of their previous 10 goals have come before the interval. However, they’ve conceded four times after the break in their prior three outings. Half-Time/Full-Time: Liverpool/Draw looks a lively longshot at 14/1.

The goals are unlikely to flow, but there could still be some value in the goalscorer markets.

Mohamed Salah is the new king of the Kop, having registered eight times in seven outings. He’s opened the scoring in three of the past four matches. The Egyptian is 6/4 in the Anytime Goalscorer market, but we prefer the 9/2 for him to net the first goal.

For Conte’s men, Eden Hazard is in stellar form, with eight goals from 10 appearances. Having also scored five times against the Merseyside club in his career, he could be popular at 2/1 to score anytime.
