Everton ace Rooney’s stunner 10/1 to win Goal of the Season

Everton’s Wayne Rooney rolled back the years with a hat-trick against West Ham United last night. And the 32-year-old’s spectacular third is already being touted as a Goal of the Season contender.

It’s the first potential winner priced up by our traders this season, with Wazza’s pinpoint strike from his own half a 10/1 shot to win the accolade.

The Croxteth-born forward has won the Match of the Day award on three previous occasions – most recently with his spectacular bicycle-kick in 2011’s Manchester derby.

And a number of our punters are already confident the Goodison Park favourite will collect the accolade again, on the back of that 60-yard effort.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Rooney rolled back the years last night with a man of the match performance to ease the pressure on his side, and the early betting interest in his wonder strike suggests we could be paying out plenty come close of play in May.”

Next up for Rooney and Everton is a meeting with Huddersfield Town on Merseyside.

The Toffees are 4/6 for victory, with the hat-trick hero 8/5 to find the net anytime.
