Doncaster v Rotherham: High-scoring Donny win on the cards
The weekend’s League One action kicks off with a South Yorkshire derby, and it’s hosts Doncaster Rovers who look good value to see off visiting Rotherham United.
Donny are on the up of late, winning three of their last five in the league. That’s included home wins over Southend United (4-1) and Portsmouth (2-1). And Darren Ferguson’s men also bowled over National League Ebbsfleet United with a 6-2 FA Cup win last weekend.
By contrast, the Millers are in a mini-rut at the moment. Paul Warne’s side have managed a single point from their last three league games. However, they’ve still given their fans something to cheer most weeks, having scored in nine on the trot in all competitions.
Both Teams to Score looks a sure thing at 4/6, while Rovers’ recent revival makes Doncaster to Win and BTTS good value at 17/5.
Hopefully Rotherham fans haven’t been leaving early this season, because most of the drama involving their side has come in the second period.
Seven of the Millers’ games this term have seen both sides net after the break. Meanwhile, Donny have scored eight goals after the interval in as many games. Both Teams to Score in Second Half looks appealing at 19/10.
In the goalscorer markets, we like the look of Rovers’ midfielder Benjamin Whiteman. The youngster has scored four times in his last five outings, bagging the winner away to Bury in his last outing. He’s 14/5 to register anytime.
As for the visitors, it’s hard to look past Kieffer Moore. He’s currently League One’s top scorer with 12 goals, and is 13/10 to bag one on derby day.
In the match betting, we’re leaning towards a Doncaster win at 13/10, with Rotherham 2/1 to bag the points and 23/10 for honours-even.
