Best Champions League bets for Liverpool, Tottenham & Man City

Published:

Matchweek four continues in the Champions League on Wednesday night, and another trio of British sides are in action.

Each of Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur could qualify tonight if they win and results go their way.

And with competition in the Premier League as fierce as ever, the three sides will be keen to progress as quickly as possible.

Here are the best bets for tonight’s action…

Liverpool v Maribor

Liverpool come into this game having already hammered Slovenian outfit Maribor 7-0 in the reverse fixture.

And the Reds are in good form after a solid 3-0 win at home to Huddersfield Town at the weekend.

At 1/28 to win, there’s simply no value in backing Jurgen Klopp’s men in the match betting.

Maribor are sure to tighten things up in order to avoid a similar pounding, but the Anfield outfit should be untroubled tonight.

A home win and over 3.5 goals is 1/2, while 4/9 says Liverpool win to nil.

Other angles include Liverpool to be winning after 15 minutes at 17/10, while they’re 15/8 to win on the -4 handicap.

Napoli v Man City

A huge game awaits in Naples. Napoli really need to win to keep their hopes of progression alive, while Man City could qualify if they pick up three points.

The reverse tie was an excellent encounter, with City prevailing 2-1.

Both teams are going great runs in their domestic leagues, and boast an enviable array of attacking talent.

Gli Azzurri are unbeaten in 13 at the Stadio San Paolo, but Pep Guardiola’s Citizens have won 12 of their last 13 in all competitions.

Both teams to score is 2/5, but over 3.5 goals should hold greater appeal at 6/5.

A score draw could be the pick of the bunch though at 16/5.

Tottenham v Real Madrid

Tottenham fully deserved their 1-1 draw with Real Madrid at the Bernabeu.

But both sides lost at the weekend so it will be fascinating to see how they respond at Wembley.

The two teams hold a six point buffer to Borussia Dortmund and Apoel Nicosia, so another draw wouldn’t be a terrible result.

It remains to be seen if Harry Kane returns to the Spurs line-up, after the England international missed the defeat to Manchester United.

If Kane is absent then that could tip the balance in Real’s favour.

Zinedine Zidane has already seen his side slip eight points behind Barcelona in La Liga, and questions are being asked as to where their form has gone.

Los Blancos are well-priced to bounce back and win the game at 23/20. Both teams to score is a solid option at 4/9 with Spurs netting in seven of their eight games in their temporary home.

Another draw is 27/10, although better value lies in the 1-1 correct score at 13/2.

And having failed to score in his last two games, the law of averages suggests Cristiano Ronaldo is due to a goal imminently. The Portuguese star is 14/5 to open the scoring.
