3 ways to back Motherwell for away triumph at Ross County

Motherwell news

Despite a narrow defeat to Hibernian last time out, Motherwell fans have good reason to be very optimistic right now.

The Steelmen have won eight of their last 11 games in all competitions – including comfortable wins over Aberdeen and Rangers.

They head to Ross County this weekend with the aim of winning a fourth successive game on their travels, against a Staggies side sat in ninth place. The hosts have won just one of their previous six league games at the Global Energy Arena this season.

That all means a Motherwell victory looks good value at 17/10. But we reckon the best value lies in our tips below…

Well win looks likely…but not a clean sheet

Defensive despair has been a common theme in Dingwall of late. The Staggies managed just two clean sheets in 12 league outings, both of which came away from home.

That might gradually improve under new boss Owen Coyle, but an overnight transformation is hugely unlikely. However, they have been a touch better in the goalscoring department of late – with six from the past six games.

As for the Well, they’re never going to struggle for goals so long as Louis Moult and Ryan Bowman are in their ranks. The pair have a combined 15 goals in all competitions this term, while former Plymouth Argyle pair Peter Hartley and Craig Tanner have also chipped in with vital goals.

Stephen Robinson’s high-flying visitors have also triumphed in four of the last five meetings between these sides, while both teams registered in 12 of the past 15 Head-to-Heads. Expect the high-flying visitors to concede but edge it.

Best Bet: Motherwell to Win and Both Teams to Score @ 18/5

Steelmen set to make a quick start

The most ambitious of this trio of bets is priced up at 6/1. But while those odds suggest it’s a longshot, the form-book says otherwise.

Motherwell have started strong in games this season, and have led at the quarter-hour mark in three of the last seven games – against Aberdeen, Partick Thistle and Dundee respectively.

The Lanarkshire club have also been ahead at the 15-minute mark in two of their last seven meetings with County. Oh, and McIntyre’s men have conceded before the quarter-hour mark in three games since Mid-September.

Backing Robinson’s men to get in front quickly could well offer some early-game delight.

Prolific hitman can fire visitors to victory

It seems fitting to finish off with the man who’s finished off so many of Motherwell’s chances this term – a certain Mr. Moult.

The former Wrexham ace is already on 10 goals for the season. He’s also got on the scoresheet in three of the previous six meetings between these sides, including bagging the winner in August’s league meeting.

And when the 25-year-old scores, victory for the Steelmen is almost guaranteed. The Lanarkshire outfit have won eight of the last nine games where he’s registered. So while their star man looks decent value at 6/5 in the Anytime Goalscorer market, there’s better value in backing three points to accompany it.

Best Bet: Moult to Score and Motherwell to Win @ 12/5
