Sean Dyche remains 2/1 favourite to be the next Everton manager, but dark horses have emerged in the form of Thomas Tuchel and Marco Silva.

The former Borussia Dortmund boss had been a 20/1 outsider when the market opened yesterday, but his odds have tumbled to 5/1. That makes the 44-year-old third favourite behind Toffees legend David Unsworth at 9/4.

As for Silva, he’s moved up to fourth in the running having also begun as a 20/1 shot. The Portuguese only took charge of current club Watford in the summer, but after an impressive few months in Hertfordshire, he’s 6/1 to take the Everton job.

Carlo Ancelotti follows at 7/1. Appointing the three-time Champions League winning boss would be quite a coup, though the 58-year-old could pounce at the chance, being currently without a club.

He’s followed by former Goodison gaffer David Moyes at 10/1, while Sam Allardyce is also available at that price.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Koeman’s car has barely pulled off Everton’s training ground for the last time but interest in the Toffees’ next boss couldn’t be higher.”

“As things stand it’s Dyche who’s leading the way, but the drastic fall in odds of Tuchel and Silva suggests the market leader could change several times before a final decision is made.”

Next up for Everton is Wednesday night’s visit to Chelsea in the League Cup, where the visitors are 11/2 for a morale-boosting win.

But will the Merseyside club have a new manager watching from the stands?
