Super Sunday: We preview Brighton v Southampton & Leicester v Everton
Super Sunday this weekend sees two intriguing tussles between teams that will be hoping to improve on their respective starts to the season.
In the opening game of the day, Brighton & Hove Albion play host to Southampton in a South Coast derby.
Then, two clubs plagued by early season managerial problems meet when Everton travel to Leicester City.
Here at Ladbrokes, we’ve got you covered for both matches…
Brighton & Hove Albion v Southampton
Brighton and Southampton have both picked up four points from their last six available, although it’s the Seagulls who’ll be happier with their start to the season.
Chris Hughton’s side have collected seven of their 11 points on home turf, winning two, drawing one and losing one. They’re 11/5 to maintain that good form in their own backyard, while Southampton are available at 11/8. The draw is 2/1.
One thing we are confident of is that it should be a tight affair. Four of Brighton’s five home games this season have seen two goals or less, while the Saints have only scored two on the road. It’s 8/15 for there to be Under 2.5 Goals.
With both sides so evenly matched, it could be worth doubling up on that market. The Draw and Under 2.5 Goals is temptingly priced at 5/2.
But what about goalscorers? Glenn Murray hit a brace for the Seagulls against West Ham United last week. He’s 12/5 to find the back of the net Anytime once again. For the visitors, Manolo Gabbiadini is 19/10.
Leicester City v Everton
With a new manager and new belief, Leicester City will fancy their chances against beleaguered Everton.
The Foxes appointed Claude Puel in the week while the visiting Toffees got rid of Ronald Koeman after 18 months in charge.
Puel is 11/10 to get his King Power tenure off to a flyer and give Leicester their second home win of the season. David Unsworth will take charge of Everton once more, and they’re 12/5 to take all three points. You can back the draw at 23/10.
One thing we can’t escape heading into this game is that the visitors look frail defensively. And that’ll be music to the ears of Jamie Vardy.
And with goals expected, it could be worth getting on Leicester to win and Both Teams to Score at 16/5.
