Leicester City are struggling at the wrong end of the Premier League table. Veteran ace Bacary Sagna is currently without a club. However, the two could soon come to one another’s aid, with the Foxes currently looking to secure the Frenchman’s services.

The 34-year-old featured 25 times for Manchester City last term. An experienced presence at right-back, Pep Guardiola drafted him in for key games against the likes of Monaco and Liverpool, as well as the Manchester derby.

Sagna is admittedly some way past his peak. However, the former France international has lost none of his intelligent reading of the game. And the Foxes backline are certainly in need of help.

Craig Shakespeare’s men have shipped 12 goals in their opening seven Premier League games. Despite being the highest scorers outside the top eight, that poor defensive record has left them perilously close to the relegation zone.

With recruitments needed, and Sagna available on a free, this looks a sensible move for both parties.

Next up for Leicester is the visit of West Bromwich Albion next Monday night, with 10/11 for a Foxes victory.

With a week until that game takes place, Sagna could well be among the hosts’ ranks by the time this fixture rolls around.
