Hamilton now 1/100 for the F1 title after Vettel and Ferrari hit more trouble

Lewis Hamilton is his shortest price yet to win this season’s Formula One World Championship.

The Mercedes ace bagged his fourth win in five races in Sunday’s Japanese Grand Prix, while title rival Sebastian Vettel failed to finish.

It means Hamilton now holds a 59-point lead, with only 100 points left to play for.

Our traders make him 1/100 to win his fourth world championship this season.

Vettel is now way out at 25/1 following his second non-finish in three races.

Sunday’s race was another one to forget for the German and his Ferrari team, following missed opportunities in Singapore and Malaysia.

Fastest in both events, a startline crash ended Vettel’s race in the former, while a power unit failure forced him to start last in Sepang.

The four-time champion’s recent run of misfortune means that a title battle which has ebbed and flowed all season could be wrapped up next time out in America.

Hamilton can become champion in Austin if he outscores Vettel by 16 points or more.

Reliability provided, the Texas circuit should again suit Ferrari.

But Hamilton, who has really upped his game since the summer break, is the 4/5 favourite to win in the States.

Vettel is the 2/1 outsider, with Valtteri Bottas best of the rest at 11/2.

The Red Bull duo of Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo could also have a role to play in a fortnight’s time.

Dutch ace Verstappen has finished first and second in the last two races, and is 14/1 to win in Austin, with Ricciardo 16/1.
