Aidan O’Brien 6/1 to break Bobby Frankel’s record this weekend

Aidan O’Brien could break Bobby Frankel’s record for the most Group/Grade 1 winners in a year this weekend if things go to plan.

The Ballydoyle maestro holds entries in five races, but only requires three of those to come in to get over the line.

We’re offering 6/1 that the Irish trainer accomplishes the extraordinary feat over the next three days.

His best chance to land a winner comes in the Fillies’ Mile at Newmarket, where Happily (2/1) and September (7/1) are the front two in the betting.

Seahenge and US Navy Flag are outside chances in the Dewhurst Stakes, while the trainer has a further three entries at Woodbine in Canada and Caulfield in Australia.

If he fails to pick up three winners this weekend, we’re almost certain he’ll get over the line on Champions Day at Ascot.

We go even-money that Bobby Frankel’s record is eclipsed next weekend.

Nicola McGeady of Ladbrokes said: “We might have to wait until Champions Day, but Aidan O’Brien is within reaching distance of making history this weekend.”

“He has entries in five races including the front three in the Fillies’ Mile at Newmarket and with just three wins needed to break the record, it could happen sooner than expected.”
