We may be heading for another international break but there’s plenty to ponder about the Premier League over the next couple of weeks.
With managers under pressure and questions mounting over contenders at the top and bottom of the table, here are five key questions from the weekend’s action…
Is Ancelotti the stalking horse?
The clock is ticking on Ronald Koeman at Everton.
Sunday’s home defeat to Burnley leaves the Dutchman hanging by a thread at Goodison Park.
He’s now 4/7 favourite to be the next manager sacked and 1/5 not to see out the season on Merseyside.
With Lyon, Arsenal, Chelsea and Leicester City all to come in the Toffees’ next five games, it could be the beginning of the end for the 54-year-old.
And with Ronald’s chips looking cooked we think Carlo Ancelotti could soon be installed in the Goodison hotseat.
Just how good are Tottenham Hotspur?
Bagging four goals away from home is impressive by any standard.
But netting four against a side that up to this point had kept four clean sheets is worth sitting up and taking notice of.
It’s not just the fact Tottenham racked up a healthy scoreline, though.
It’s the way they ruthlessly dismantled their opponents.
They carved Huddersfield Town open on numerous occasions and should have scored more.
Harry Kane helped himself to another brace as his personal tally went to 13 for club and country this season.
With Spurs starting to hit form the rest of the league should be worried.
Can Crouch keep on going?
Having Peter Crouch up-front is like sticking on a pair of old slippers.
You know what you’re getting with the big man, who nabbed his 105th Premier League goal this weekend.
The 36-year-old is increasingly in the habit of scoring important late goals for the Potters.
His 85th minute strike at the weekend secured three points against Southampton, while a 77th minute header earlier in the season nicked a point against West Bromwich Albion.
In reinventing himself as a super-sub striker, Crouchie still has plenty to give in the twilight of his career.
Are Bournemouth in trouble?
After seven games, the only side that Bournemouth have managed to beat are Brighton & Hove Albion.
And even that required a surprise fightback after the Cherries were 1-0 down.
The South Coast club sit one from bottom of the Premier League table and have picked up only four points so far.
More worrying is that Eddie Howe’s side have only scored four goals in the league.
With Josh King and Jermain Defoe both worryingly out of form, odds of 2/1 on the Vitality Stadium making a return to the Championship could start to look generous as the season rolls on.
Just how good is Marcus Rashford?
What a player Marcus Rashford is turning out to be.
The 19-year-old may not have scored at the weekend but he chipped in with two assists as United romped to another four-goal victory.
He’s now scored six goals and provided five assists for club and country this season.
His pace, trickery and neat footwork pulls defenders apart and opens up space for teammates.
With a wand of a right-foot as well, it’s impossible to understate Rashford’s important to United going forward.
