Leicester v Liverpool: Goals aplenty in Carabao Cup clash

The pick of this week’s Carabao Cup third round games is arguably Leicester versus Liverpool.
It could well be the most entertaining.
A draw and extra-time is arguably the most appealing angle at 5/2.
But whoever goes through to the fourth round, we’re expecting goals.
Both teams have scored in four of the Foxes’ six games this season, while it’s five in eight for Liverpool.
The Reds’ matches this season have been a feast for goal-getters, with games involving the Anfield outfit averaging 3.8 goals.
Then there’s Leicester’s history in this competition, which has seen both teams score 19 times in the club’s last 21 games.
So both to find the back of the net looks assured at 4/7, with over 2.5 goals similarly priced at 4/6.
Goalscorers
Coincidentally these two sides meet again in the East Midlands on Saturday, so it will be interesting to see the team selections from both Craig Shakespeare and Jurgen Klopp.
It’s widely expected that both managers will be focusing heavily on the weekend’s Premier League clash.Last season Leicester took on Chelsea at this stage, and then-boss Claudio Ranieri opted to start with Shinji Okazaki and Ahmed Musa up front.
That pair could both feature again. Musa is yet to see a single minute of Premier League action this term, but played 90 minutes in the 4-1 win over Sheffield United in the previous round of the cup.
Musa is 9/1 to score first, while Okazaki – benched for the Foxes’ last two league games – is 8/1 to open the scoring.
Demarai Gray is another who Shakespeare has used sparingly in the league. But the winger opened the scoring in that Sheffield United win. He’s 14/1 to do so again.
For Liverpool, this fixture could be the ideal time for Dominic Solanke. With Sadio Mane still suspended for the weekend game, Klopp may be reluctant to risk Daniel Sturridge .
That could see Solanke get his first start for the Reds since moving from Chelsea in the summer. We’re 5/1 he takes that opportunity with the first goal of the game.
And Danny Ings could also be back in the frame. The former Burnley man has been out with a knee injury since October, but he’s been training with the senior squad and is 11/2 to net first.
