Leeds United could be in the market for a new forward in January, according to reports.

Whites’ manager Thomas Christiansen is reportedly keen on bringing Argentine striker Emiliano Buendia to Elland Road.

The 20-year-old is currently on-loan from Getafe at Segunda Division side Cultural Leonesa.

But his next destination could be West Yorkshire, with Leeds the 2/1 favourites to sign the youngster.

United and Leonesa have a close relationship regarding the development of young players.

And United will be hoping the Spanish club lend a further hand in getting a deal for Buendia over the line.

The 5ft 7in ace began his career with Real Madrid but spent just a single year at the Bernabeu.

From there the striker moved to Getafe where he’s made 35 appearances in three years for the first team.

He has featured six times for Leonesa this season, scoring once in a 4-2 Copa Del Rey victory away at Alcoron.

The youngster has also been capped at youth level by the Spain Under-19 side and Argentina Under-20s.

But it was for Argentina that Buendia showed his best form.

In four appearances for La Albiceleste the pint-sized forward hit two goals, including one against Ghana in the 2015 Under-20 World Cup.

With his impressive ball retention, blistering pace and excellent dribbling skills, Buendia would undoubtedly be an excellent addition at Elland Road.

However, the Yorkshire club may face competition for his signature from Swansea City.

Swans boss Paul Clement was keen on a move for the Getafe forward in the summer but could not get a deal over the line.

He may renew his interest in January, with our traders going 3/1 that a deal is done.
