Crystal Palace odds-on for relegation after weekend hammering

The Premier League season is only six games old but already the serious candidates for relegation have emerged.
At the front of the queue are Crystal Palace at a fairly generous 8/11.
A 5-0 drubbing at the hands of Manchester City at the weekend is nothing to be ashamed of.
But more worrying is that the Eagles once again created chances without taking any of them.
Added to that, the South London outfit have now conceded 13 goals without reply.
And that doesn’t bode well from a statistical point of view.
The last side to lose their opening six games and stay up in a top-flight season were Leicester City in 1984.
Next in-line according to our traders are Brighton & Hove Albion at 11/8.
A narrow victory over Newcastle United at the Amex Stadium on Sunday saw the Seagulls move onto seven points.
It has become increasingly clear that if Brighton are to survive it’s their home form that will be key.
Three of their next four contests on the South Coast are against Southampton, Crystal Palace and Stoke City.
Seven points from nine is the requirement if they want to be in a good position ahead of the Christmas period.
Given their impressive start it is perhaps a surprise to see Huddersfield Town third favourites at 6/4.
The Terriers’ sole defeat to far has come against West Ham United, who themselves are 4/1 for the drop.
David Wagner’s men secured another impressive point at the weekend with a 0-0 draw away at Burnley (2/1 for relegation).
With three clean sheets from their opening five league games we think Town have what it takes to remain in the division.
That leads us on to Swansea City, who are 15/8 to take the plunge.
Old boy Wilfried Bony needs to rediscover his goalscoring form.
Meanwhile, Renato Sanches is yet show the promise that encouraged manager Paul Clement to bring him to the Liberty Stadium in the first place.
If it doesn’t click soon for the Swans, those odds could start to look fairly generous.
However, it’s still not quite as generous as AFC Bournemouth’s defending.
Oumar Niasse took full advantage as the Cherries surrendered a 1-0 lead to lose 2-1 to Everton on Saturday.
If things don’t pick up at the Vitality Stadium we reckon the 21/10 on the South Coast side going over the cliff looks a solid value-punt.
