It might be hard to believe but Barcelona could be about to make a sensational switch to the Premier League.

The Catalan club could be forced to leave La Liga if Catalonia votes for independence later this year.

League officials have claimed that if the region does go independent, local clubs will have the choice of where they want to play their football.

We go 50/1 on the likes of Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets rocking up at Stoke City and Huddersfield Town in the next five years.

Then we really would find out if Messi can do it on a wet and windy night in the Potteries.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Barca have been in a league of their own so far this season, but that could literally be the case if Catalonia becomes independent and the giants are booted out of La Liga.”

“Our traders aren’t ruling out Prem chiefs welcoming the European heavyweights with open arms though.”
