Why we think the 3/1 on Wolves to win the Championship is a steal

OK, so predicting Wolverhampton Wanderers to win the Championship isn’t the most outlandish of shouts.
But at 3/1 they still represent significant value in a league where they already look to have the beating of most teams.
Already this season they’ve put Middlesbrough, Hull City and Derby County to the sword.
Those three were all tipped to be promotion contenders at the start of the season, which just goes to show the level at which Wanderers are already performing.
Here are three more reasons why we think Wolves are heading for Championship glory…
They Score Goals
Three games into the season and Wolves are averaging two goals a game.
The Midlanders have already scored two on three occasions and have a plethora of big-name goalscorers within the squad.
Ivan Cavaleiro and Diego Jota have both opened their account, while Helder Costa is still to come back from injury.
In short, Wolves have an embarrassment of riches in their forward armoury that most Premier League clubs would be jealous of.
And they’re only going to get better.
The Manager
It’s not often that a former Valencia and Porto manager rocks up in the Championship.
But that’s the pedigree that Nuno Espirito Santo brings to Molineux.
The 43-year-old was a Champions League winner in his playing days and as a manager led tiny Portuguese outfit Rio Ave to two domestic cup finals.
Added to that, he’s managed one of the most turbulent clubs in recent years in Valencia, and so a stint in the Championship with Wolves should be a walk in the park.
A staunch tactician, Nuno represents a significant step up from former boss Kenny Jackett and one that shows the level of ambition within the Wanderers boardroom.
The Jorge Mendes Factor
You may not like the super agent, but you can’t argue that he gives Wolves a significant advantage over their competitors.
The football broker has already brought several big-name signings to the club and, as time ticks on, that’s only likely to continue.
Wolves have plenty of money to play with thanks to their owners Fosun International and the Mendes link means they’re constantly in the market for big-name players.
Any advantage in the transfer market is a significant plus for a Championship side and in the Portuguese, Wolves already have a half-yard head-start on everyone else.
