Swansea City old boy set for a move back to the Liberty?

Swansea prepare bid for Stoke midfielder Joe Allen

Former Swansea City hero Joe Allen could be set for a dramatic return to the Liberty Stadium this summer.

The Swans have put the feelers out to Allen’s current club Stoke City about a possible return for the 27-year-old.

In five years at the Liberty, Allen made 150 appearances and earned plaudits for his range of passing and technical ability in the Jacks’ midfield.

That earned the diminutive Welsh international a £15m move to Liverpool in 2012.

A mixed spell on Merseyside saw Allen fall in and out of favour before a switch to the Potteries last summer.

Now though, the Swans want to bring the Welshman back home.

Although Allen isn’t thought to be readily available the South Wales club may test Stoke’s resolve with a big offer.

And with Swansea set for a major windfall from the imminent sale of Gylfi Sigurdsson to Everton a deal could be on.

We think there’s definitely something in the move and go 2/1 that Allen makes a romantic return to Wales’s second city.
