With just two-and-a-half days to go until the start of the 2017-18 Premier League season, we can report that punters are backing Manchester United for the title in their droves.

Despite their Super Cup final loss, customers still seem incredibly optimistic of league glory as Jose Mourinho gears up for his second season in charge at Old Trafford.

Having signed goal-machine, Romelu Lukaku, Nemanja Matic and Victor Lindelof, the Red Devils have put together a formidable squad.

When you also consider that Mourinho tends to be more successful in his second season at clubs, this could be the year that they return to their perch.

Manchester City sit in second spot, while the Premier League betting table envisages Liverpool finishing above Chelsea in fourth.

The Wembley factor could well be playing into punters’ minds when it comes to backing Tottenham Hotspur, as Mauricio Pochettino’s side are currently chalked up to end the season outside the Top 6.

Unfortunately faith appears to be low for Swansea City, Stoke City and West Bromwich Albion’s hopes of ‘doing a Leicester’.

Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “United fans clearly think this is their season, but City aren’t going to roll over that easily. The wagers suggest Liverpool fans think they’ll be able to cling on to Coutinho, while Conte’s signings won’t be enough for back-to-back titles.”

It’s all to play for going into Friday night’s opener between Arsenal and Leicester City.
