Pulev is a short price to be Joshua’s most likely next opponent

A new name has emerged as world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua’s next potential opponent.

Reacting to the shock retirement of Wladimir Klitschko, we go 6/4 that IBF mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev will be confirmed as AJ’s following assignment.

Joshua and Klitschko had been set to meet in a rematch in Las Vegas later this year. However, with the Ukrainian calling time on his illustrious career it appears that the 36-year-old Bulgarian will get his shot.

Meanwhile, 5/1 is available for Cuban heavyweight Luis Ortiz to be the next in line for the Londoner with WBC belt holder Deontay Wilder at 7/1.

Another dust-up with Dillian Whyte is priced at 9/1 while perhaps not too surprisingly it’s a long shot at 50/1 apiece Tony Bellew or David Haye fancy their luck with AJ.

Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “With the Klitschko rematch cancelled all fingers are firmly pointing towards AJ facing the Bulgarian heavyweight Pulev next.”
