The final Major of the year takes place this week, with the Quail Hollow Club in North Carolina hosting the US PGA Championship.

There are no surprises at the top of the betting, but there is plenty at stake for each of Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth and Dustin Johnson.

For Rory and DJ, this weekend represents their last chance to avoid a Major-less season, while Spieth could claim a career Grand Slam should he prevail.

But they’re far from the only contenders.

Here’s how the favourites in the betting are shaping up…

Rory McIlroy @ 7/1

A rib injury threatened to ruin Rory Mcllroy’s year, but recent showings suggest the Northern Irishman can still salvage a Major.

The two-time US PGA champion produced his best result of the year to finish fourth at the Open last month, and four sub-70 rounds at Quail Hollow last weekend confirmed his return to the sharp end of the leaderboard.

Jordan Spieth @ 8/1

Uncatchable at Royal Birkdale, Jordan Spieth couldn’t quite produce the same form at the Bridgestone Invitational.

But he was a solid T13, and will be stepping up his game this weekend knowing that a career Grand Slam is up for grabs.

Dustin Johnson @ 11/1

Like McIlroy, Dustin Johnson isn’t yet at his best after injuring his back prior to the Masters, but he mustn’t be dismissed.

Would have been firmly in the mix last weekend but for a second round 75, and six of his last eight rounds have been 68 or better.

Hideki Matsuyama @ 14/1 (was 20s)

In blisteringly good form over the window, Hideki Matsuyama is entering a very similar vein right now.

Second at the US Open with a 65 and a 66 on his card, the Japanese was T14 at Birkdale, before storming to the WGC Bridgestone Invitational last weekend thanks to a sensational 61 on the final day.

Rickie Fowler @ 20/1

It still won’t quite happen for Rickie Fowler, but boy he’s close. In contention at both the Masters and US Open, the American was 22nd at the Open.

Ninth last time out in Ohio, Fowler has posted four top-10 finishes in his last six tournaments.

Jon Rahm @ 22/1

A missed cut at the US Open followed by a T44 at the Open will have been vital experiences Jon Rahm.

Was in good form last weekend in Ohio, with three rounds of 68 or better.

Brooks Koepka @ 25/1

On recent from, Brooks Koepka must be considered to do well this weekend.

Bagged his first Major at the US Open in June, and was sixth at Birkdale. Koepka has been consistent too, and hasn’t missed a cut since March.

Jason Day @ 25/1

It’s proving to be a difficult year for Jason Day, and the formbook doesn’t bode too well for his chances at Quail Hollow.

The Australian missed the cut at the US Open and Travelers Championship, and has only finished in the top-10 once since February.
