Real Madrid star Gareth Bale looks set for a switch back to England in the final month of the transfer window.

Our traders have slashed Manchester United’s odds on signing the Welshman, in to 5/4 from 4/1 last month.

Bale has long been the subject of intense transfer speculation and now we think it could come to a head.

United manager Jose Mourinho said earlier this week that he would fight to take the ex-Tottenham Hotspur man to Old Trafford.

The Red Devils have always appeared the most likely destination for Bale and that hasn’t changed ahead of their clash with Real Madrid in the European Super Cup this evening.

There could be competition for the 28-year-old’s signature though, with Manchester City and Chelsea both interested in the attacker.

Citizens manager Pep Guardiola has the financial clout to compete with their city rivals and signing Bale would complete a stellar attacking line-up.

We go 9/2 for the Wales international to be a City player by the close of the transfer window.

Chelsea are also in the running for the powerful winger following Sunday’s disappointing Community Shield defeat to Arsenal.

Manager Antonio Conte has decried his side’s lack of transfer activity all summer and could move for the 6ft powerhouse to compensate for the impending loss of Diego Costa.

Bale could be reluctant to move to Stamford Bridge however, given his connection with their London rivals Tottenham.

We make Chelsea second favourites alongside Man City at 9/2 for the Champions League winner’s signature.
