Liverpool v Hoffenheim: Reds to qualify for Champions League in style

After their 2-1 first leg victory in Hoffenheim last week, Liverpool stand on the cusp of the Champions League group stage.

The Reds simply need to avoid defeat on home turf and they’re through. Hoffenheim are a good side, but, in reality, they had their chance in Germany.

To win at Anfield should prove to be a step-up in class they are not ready for. Julian Nagelsmann’s Die Kraichgauer are a talented young side still in development, but there’s a reason they’re 19/5 to win here in 90 minutes.

Even at the slightly short 8/13, there’s certainly value in taking the home win. Liverpool just don’t lose play-off games at Anfield.

In the three previous home-leg games at this round, they’ve won all three, against Maccabi Haifa, Toulouse, and Standard Liege respectively.

Granted, the Bundesliga team are probably of a higher standard, but the Merseyside club should still have enough to get the job done.

Just like in the first-leg, we recommended goals and both teams obliged. Both Teams To Score and Over 2.5 Goals rolled in and we’re touting something similar this time.

The 6/5 on the Liverpool win and Over 2.5 Goals is a bet that’s too nice to turn down considering Liverpool are generally a side full of goals and Hoffenheim need to score.

You could back the shorter-priced anytime goalscorers such as Saido Mane or Mohamed Salah, but we love the look of Georginio  Wijnaldum at 14/5

The Dutchman loves a goal at Anfield with all six of last season’s strikes coming at home. On a big night for the club, we fancy the former Newcastle star to step up to the place once more.
