Liverpool look to Paris Saint-Germain for defensive reinforcement

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp claimed this weekend that he doesn’t see his side’s defence as a cause for concern this campaign.

We don’t believe that for a second.

The Reds have been in the market for another central defender all summer, most notably coveting Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk.

But with the Dutchman looking increasingly unlikely to move away from St. Mary’s, the Reds could be about to turn their attention elsewhere.

Elsewhere in this case is Paris Saint-Germain’s Presnel Kimpembe.

The 21-year-old was a regular for PSG at the back end of last season, making 26 appearances in all competitions.

He also featured in the Parisians famous 4-0 Champions League victory over Barcelona.

Even with a distinct lack of experience, Kimpembe would add a touch of class and youthfulness to Liverpool’s backline.

Our traders have priced the towering centre-half at 5/2 for a move to Merseyside this summer.

The Reds will face competition for the player from Inter Milan.

Chinese-backed Milan have been after the French under-21 international for some time and have already made contact with PSG, according to L’Equipe.

Manager Unai Emery doesn’t need to sell the youngster but a high enough bid could tempt PSG to cash in on Kimpembe.

We make Inter 4/1 to snap up the 21-year-old.

Everton are also rumoured to be interested in the 6ft 2in ace and we’ve got him at 12/1 to move to Goodison Park.

Presnel Kimpembe – Club at end of Summer 2017 transfer window

Liverpool – 5/2

Everton – 12/1

Inter Milan – 4/1
