The situation at Barcelona is starting to get serious. Neymar has already jumped ship to Paris-Saint-Germain, and with Real Madrid already looking like the dominant force in La Liga for years to come, could Lionel Messi also be on his way?
We certainly think so, even if the move takes place next summer rather than before the close of the current transfer window.
The Argentine’s father has reportedly opened talks with City chiefs ahead of a move to England in 2018, and we go just 7/4 that an agreement is reached.
A move during this transfer window is much less likely at 10/1, but the latest odds suggest the biggest transfer of all-time could certainly be on the cards a year from now.
Messi is yet to sign a new four-year-deal with the Catalan giants, which has created uncertainty and stoked the fire of a possible move to the Etihad.
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “It’s been talked about since Guardiola’s first day in charge of City, and it’s now looking increasingly likely the Spanish boss will reunite with Messi in Manchester at some point in the near future.”
