Jacob Rees-Mogg is now the most popular candidate to become the next permanent leader of the Conservatives, according to our latest odds.

Rees-Mogg entered the market as a 100/1 outsider but a surge in popularity has seen his odds slashed into 6/1 joint-second favourite.

Otherwise known as the ‘Honourable Member for the 18th Century’, the Old Etonian has recently boosted his following among the younger generation by joining Instagram.

With reports hinting Theresa May could exit 10 Downing Street by 2019, Rees-Mogg has become a punters favourite, with more wagers placed on him than any of the other contenders.

However, Brexit Minster David Davis remains the favourite to oust the current PM at 7/2.

Chancellor of the Exchequer Phillip Hammond is 6/1 while Boris Johnson has moved out to 8/1.

Ruth Davidson, leader of the Conservative Party in Scotland, is an outside bet at 16/1.

At the moment though, it appears Moggmania is sweeping the country.
