ITV Racing Tips: Cardsharp to be the ace in the pack on final day

York odds

After a thrilling week of top racing action, we conclude the York Ebor Festival with the wide-open Ebor Handicap itself.

A total of 20 runners are currently pencilled in to tackle the 1m6f trip, with Flymetothestars the early favourite over Ivan Grozny.

ITV have you covered for four races in total so let’s get cracking with another exciting card.

NAP – Mondialiste – 13:55, York

The Strensall Stakes are a David O’Meara favourite and we reckon the stars could align for the trainer once again here.

O’Meara has trained the winner in this race in two of the last three years and returns once again with Mondialiste, victor in 2015.

Since then the seven-year-old has endured a mixed time of it, and although still looking for his first win this season, the son of Galileo certainly makes appeal here.

Mondialiste won this carrying 9-5 on his back two years ago and we fancy the Irish-raider to return to that winning form.

Who would back against a proven winning combination?

 NB – Cardsharp – 15:00, York

If the ground continues to dry out on the Knavesmire then Cardsharp could begin to look a very smart pick indeed.

Even on the current ground the two-year-old holds significant claims given his recent form.

Mark Johnston’s sprinter has three wins to his name this term, including an impressive 1¾l victory over the fancied pair US Navy Flag and Rajasinghe in the July Stakes at Newmarket.

The bay-colt is now used to Group 2 level as well and should go well on his York debut.

Lively Longshot – Magic Circle – 15:35, York

In the feature race of the day we’re going for Magic Circle to land the Ebor Handicap.

Why? Well Ralph Beckett’s yard has been in excellent form of late.

The Kimpton-based trainer has had three winners just this week, with two at York, including Magic Circle on Wednesday.

She’s dropped back down to the 1m6f for her second run of the week and will enjoy the big field.

Five-year-olds have an excellent record in this race as well having won five of the last nine renewals.

And with Magic Circle one of only three five-year-olds in the whole field, we feel as though she has an excellent chance around a course where she remains unbeaten in two starts.
