Hoffenheim v Liverpool: Expect fireworks in Champions League qualifier

Liverpool face a tough trip to Germany on Tuesday night as they take on Champions League newbies, Hoffenheim in their third round qualifier.

Realistically, the Reds couldn’t have been handed a more difficult tie and look a little short in the match betting at 6/5.

Despite this being the Bundesliga sides first game amongst Europe’s elite, they impressed hugely last season and boast one of the hottest coaching properties on the continent in Julian Nagelsmann.

The 29-year-old has performed relative miracles at Die Kraichgauer, staving off relegation at the back-end of the 2015-16 campaign before a startling fourth-placed finish last season.

At 15/8, the home side look a touch short for our liking, too, though.

Where we’re going with this preview is goals. Both sides play a high-octane, ferocious pressing game that will see each other look to capitalise on mistakes.

Liverpool under Klopp have been as defensively sound as Kevin Keegan’s Newcastle United side of the mid-nineties, with Saturday’s 3-3 draw at Watford again exposing their frailties at the back.

Hoffenheim also tend to score and concede so backing both teams to score here at 6/10 looks a banker.

We also really like the even-money on the Both Teams To Score and Over 2.5 Goals market, too.

In terms of goalscorers, Roberto Firmino at 15/8 looks tasty. The Brazilian heads back to his old stomping ground where he was a huge fan’s favourite and will be looking to impress on his return.

Ex-Leicester City striker Andrej Kramaric scored 15 goals for the German side last year and at 9/5 looks another top bet to bag here, too.
