Farah leads British charge at World Athletics Championships

After a record-breaking medal haul in last summer’s Olympics, Team GB are ready to go again, this time on home soil.
London hosts this year’s World Athletics Championships, and there is plenty of optimism for home success.
Here’s a few names to watch out for…
Where else would we start but with Mo Farah?
Once again Britain’s greatest distance runner is doubling up, 12 months after landing Olympic gold in both the 10 and 5,000 metres.
He’s undefeated in both events over the last six years, and a roaring home crowd will only give him an extra boost.
Katarina Johnson-Thompson – Heptathlon @ 8/1
With Jessica Ennis-Hill now retired, it’s Katarina Johnson-Thompson’s time to shine.
Now 24-years-old, the Liverpudlian should be entering her peak years.
She’s always had the running and jumping sorted, all that remains is to work on the javelin and shot put.
Laura Muir – 1500m @ 9/1
Edged into seventh in Rio last year, Laura Muir has used that experience to great effect.
The Inverness speedster took gold in the 1500m and 3000m at the European Indoor Championships earlier this year, and has set a whole host of personal bests and national records since the Olympics.
Entering both the 1500m and 5000m in London, big things are expected of the 24-year-old.
Andrew Pozzi – 110m hurdles @ 40/1
The odds suggest gold may be beyond 25-year-old Andrew Pozzi, but the home hurdler is in good form.
He took gold in the 60m hurdles at this year’s European Indoor Championships, and set a new 110m PB of 13.14 in June’s Diamond League meeting in Paris.
That time would have won him silver in Rio, so watch this space.
