Chelsea boss Conte 10/3 favourite to be first Prem manager to leave

Published:

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is the 10/3 favourite to be the first Premier League manager to leave this season.

The Italian heads the betting for the sack race, after the reigning champions endured a nightmare start to the defence of their title.

Gary Cahill was sent off after just 14 minutes of the new campaign, before Burnley raced into a 3-0 first-half lead at Stamford Bridge.

Despite clawing two goals back after the break, Cesc Fabregas also saw red, adding to Conte’s selection problems following a difficult summer in the transfer market.

Conte leads Mark Hughes and Slaven Bilic in the betting, with the respective Stoke City and West Ham United bosses each 4/1 to leave first.

Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez is 9/2, after the Magpies lost 2-0 to Tottenham Hotspur on their Prem return.

And Frank de Boer might not be in the Crystal Palace hotseat for long unless the Eagles improve.

The Dutchman’s first game in charge of the Selhurst Park outfit proved one to forget, as Premier League debutants Huddersfield Town eased to a 3-0 victory.

We’re 9/1 that De Boer is the first to go.

At the opposite end of the market, Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola looks comfortable at 50/1, with Manchester United and Tottenham bosses Jose Mourinho and Mauricio Pochettino similarly safe at 40s.
