Newcastle United have been busy in the transfer market this summer, as they bid for a successful campaign back in the Premier League. With five new players having already signed on, it now seems a further deal is all-but-done. That’s the signing of Joselu.

Our traders are so sure that the Stoke City forward is exiting for Tyneside that they’ve closed the book on a move, having previously been 1/3.

The Potters striker spent last season out on loan with La Liga side Deportivo la Coruna. And despite an injury-hampered campaign, the striker helped Branquiazuis avoid the drop, netting six times in 24 outings.

A man for the big occasion, the Stuttgart native registered three goals over two meetings with Real Madrid, and struck the opener in a 2-1 defeat of Barcelona.

So, he’s proved that he can do it against the best? But can he do it consistently? If so, the reported £5m fee could prove a bargain.

During his time in Germany, the 6ft 2in striker did reach double figures with Bundesliga pair Eintracht Frankfurt and Hannover 96. The issue is, those two seasons (coming back-to-back from 2013-15) have been the exception to the rule.

With some reports suggesting a medical has now been arranged, we expect this deal to get over the line in the next few days. Which means the striker could make his bow as soon as Sunday, when the Magpies head to Huddersfield Town.

There’s 21/10 on offer for Newcastle to take their first three points of the season.
