Aviva Premiership: Saracens hot favourites to wrestle crown from Exeter

Published:

The Aviva Premiership rolls around again in a couple of weekend’s time, with Ladbrokes’ market suggesting it’s going to be a three-way tilt at the title come May.

Saracens are hot favourites at 6/5, followed by Wasps at 9/4 and Exeter Chiefs at 4/1. There’s a huge gap back to Leicester Tigers at 14/1.

After a stunning finale in last season’s Grand Final where Exeter edged out Wasps, we’re all set for another thrilling campaign.

English rugby is arguably in its rudest health since 2003, both domestically and internationally.

Sarries, as has been the case over the last few seasons, look the side to beat. The defending European champions were surprisingly beaten in last season’s Premiership semis by eventual winners, Exeter, and will be out for revenge.

The squad is already packed with world-class quality, including the Vunipola brothers, Jamie George, Schalk Brits, Schalk Burger, Maro Itoje, George Kruis and many, many more.

Having added Welsh international, Liam Williams, to an already potent backline, the London club will be confident of an all-out assault on both the Premiership and the Champions Cup.

Leicester have made an eye-catching signing in George Ford, who will now form an exciting half back partnership with England duo, Ben Youngs and Manu Tuilagi. At 14/1, they look a tempting prospect.

It’s Wasps, though, who look the team who’ll challenge Saracens most.

With the likes of Danny Cipriani, James Haskell, Joe Launchbury and Willie Le Roux, the London club are a formidable outfit and should push Sarries all the way.
