Wigan v Salford: Warriors to reach Final with big-scoring win

While you’d often expect Ladbrokes Challenge Cup Semi-Finals to be close affairs, we don’t expect anything of the sort from Wigan Warriors’ clash against Salford Red Devils, with Shaun Wane’s men likely to breeze to victory.

Wigan have won three of their last four games, with each of those victories coming by 16 points or more. That’s a real contrast with the Red Devils, who have lost each of their last three games by 24-26.

That means the Wigan -14 handicap looks generously priced at 11/8, while there’s 4/1 on offer for Wane’s charges to win by 20-30 points.

The Warriors tend to do things the straightforward way, with all of their last five wins seeing the 2016 Grand Final winners lead at the interval. So the 8/13 for Wigan to lead at half-time and win looks like easy money. As does the 5/6 on offer for a Wigan -4 First Half handicap.

So, with the favourites likely to chalk up a comfortable victory, there could be plenty of value in the player markets. Joe Burgess is one such example.

Having notched up 16 tries in Super League, as well as two in each of the Warriors’ two prior Challenge Cup games, we like the 3/1 on offer for him in the 2 or More Tryscorer market.

Centre Liam Marshall is also highly likely to make good on the 4/5 to score a Try anytime, while Salford’s Ben Murdoch-Masila could prove popular at 2/1 to get over the line.

In the match betting, Wigan justify their price as 4/11 favourites, with 5/2 and 25/1 on offer for a tie when the buzzer goes.
