West Ham ahead of Prem rivals in chase to sign Sevilla linchpin

Things have gone a bit quiet on the transfer front at London Stadium since the arrival of Pablo Zabaleta in May. But there could be another arrival on the way shortly, with West Ham United 7/4 favourites to sign Sevilla ace Vicente Iborra.

The powerful defensive midfielder has been one of Los Rojiblancos’ most important players since arriving in 2013, netting 30 times in 170 games and lifting the Europa League trophy on no fewer than three occasions. A leader on the pitch, he also captained the La Liga outfit for much of last season.

However, the Hammers aren’t the only English outfit keen on the 29-year-old, who is more than likely to head to the Premier League this summer.

Watford are 5/2 shots for the Spaniard’s signature, with new boss Marco Silva looking to revive a Hornets side who ended last season in dismal form.

They’re followed in the betting by West Bromwich Albion at 7/2, while it’s 8/1 for Mark Hughes to add another Spaniard to a Stoke City squad containing the likes of Bojan, Joselu and Marc Muniesa.

However, despite being strongly linked with a move to Sunderland earlier in the year, that move now looks highly unlikely, with 33/1 on offer for the midfielder to head to Wearside.
