West Brom lead Crystal Palace in chase for ex-Man City defender

With four players aged 32 or older already amongst their ranks, it’s fair to say that West Bromwich Albion boss Tony Pulis favours an experienced campaigner.

And he’s the man most likely to snap up one of the game’s most talented veterans – Bacary Sagna. In fact, our odds-crunchers make it just 7/4 he heads to the Hawthorns this summer.

Despite being in the twilight of his career, the 34-year-old still featured 24 times for Manchester City last term, helping the Sky Blues to seven clean sheets in his 17 Premier League outings.

But it’s his long-term pedigree which really highlights Sagna’s class and experience. The defender has played in 267 Premier League games (chalking up 24 assists), a European Championship Final and reached the Champions League semis three times.

And with the veteran currently out of contract, Crystal Palace are also trying to get their hands on the French freebie, with 2/1 on offer for the left-back to head south of the Thames this summer.

Next in the betting are Stoke City at 9/2, with former Citizens boss Mark Hughes keen to add Sagna to the Potters’ ranks, as they look to bounce back following a disappointing 13th-placed finish last term.

Meanwhile, Turkish pair Galatasaray (6/1) and Bursaspor (7/1) are also believed to be keen on Sagna. Of those two, it’s the former that surely offers the more appealing option, with Europa League football on offer at Turk Telecom Stadium.
