Werder Bremen hotshot emerges onto Liverpool and Chelsea radars

Liverpool and Chelsea could be set for a transfer duel in the coming weeks, if the latest reports are anything to go by.

German publication Bild claim that the Premier League duo are each tracking Werder Bremen hotshot Max Kruse.

The striker has been frequently linked with a move to England in recent seasons, but remains in the Bundesliga.

And despite missing much of last term with injury, managed an impressive 15 goals from just 23 appearances.

For both Liverpool and their rivals from West London, Kruse ticks several boxes.

Jurgen Klopp may be able to boast the dazzling and skilful trio of Sadio Mane, Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino, but Anfield is missing an out-and-out goal-getter.

And for Chelsea, while they are about to acquire Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid, they lack alternative striker options at Stamford Bridge.

It’s believed Kruse is available for a relative bargain in today’s world at  £16m, and whoever does win this race will be signing a striker capable of all kinds of goals.

A German international, Kruse has reached double figures in four of the last five seasons in the Bundesliga.
