Van Dijk left out of Southampton squad – 1/5 for Liverpool move

Whatever books Virgil van Dijk has been reading this summer, there’s a fair chance they won’t have featured as many twists and turns as his own story.
The Southampton defender has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool for several months, and with each passing week the deal is on and then off again.
But now it really could be on.
New Saints boss Mauricio Pellegrino revealed that the Dutchman has been training alone, after saying that he wants to leave the club.
And as the South Coast outfit jet off to France for a pre-season exercise, Van Dijk has been left behind.
It’s the latest indicator – and the biggest yet – that Van Dijk’s Southampton future is over.
Liverpool have to tread carefully though, having already overstepped the mark in their pursuit of the centre-half earlier this summer.
But at 1/5, our traders reckon Van Dijk will become a Liverpool player before this summer’s window closes.
They’re the only club in the hunt too, with Arsenal next up at 9/1.
