The tweet everyone’s been waiting for – Man United confirm Lukaku

It was becoming a bit of a ‘will he? won’t he?’ situation, but now we’ve got official confirmation from Manchester United themselves that they are about to sign Romelu Lukaku.
The Red Devils tweeted this morning, laying to rest all rumours that suggested the Everton striker may yet join Chelsea this summer.

It’s been widely reported that the initial deal will see the Belgian move for £75m, with a further £15m in potential add-ons.
Then throw in the £10m valuation of Wayne Rooney who is poised to go the other way, and this suddenly becomes football’s first £100m deal.
Lukaku enjoyed his best season yet in the Premier League last time out, firing in 25 goals for the Toffees.
The news will be a huge blow to reigning champions Chelsea, who have yet to make a single signing with the new season a little over a month away.
