Roger Federer heavy odds-on favourite for Wimbledon final fairytale

Roger Federer is the odds-on favourite to win the 2017 Wimbledon Men’s final for a record-breaking eighth time.

The Swiss ace has seen traditional rivals Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic all falter, leaving Marin Cilic to stand in his way at SW19.

But the odds, and the stats, suggest the Croatian won’t be ably to deny the 36-year-old Federer.

We make the 18-time Slam winner 1/5 to make it 19 this weekend, in what would be his second successive Slam victory after the Australian Open earlier this year.

Cilic is the outsider at 7/2, as he looks to add to his 2014 US Open success.

But we just can’t see the Bosnian prevailing here, as he becomes the 13th person to take on Federer in a Slam final.

Federer is yet to drop a set across the Wimbledon fortnight, while Cilic required five sets just to see off 34-year-old Gilles Muller in the quarter-finals.

Cilic then need four sets to defeat Sam Querrey in the last four.

Then there’s the head-to-head record, which has Federer comfortably ahead 6-1.

The pair did go to five sets at Wimbledon last year – in Federer’s favour – but Cilic is up against it this time around versus a rejuvenated and rested Swiss.

Our 6/5 on offer for Fed to win in straight sets says it all.

And if that’s the case, then the 10/11 on under 37.5 games could be on the cards too.

If you fancy Cilic to up his game however, 5/2 on Federer to win by three sets to one is a viable angle.
